#12 what is this earth and sea of which I have seen so much? Whence is it produced? And what am I and all the other creatures, wild and tame, humane and brutal? Whence are we? (Defoe)

The exhibition “Trying to be here…” uses various photographs and references from literature, film, youtube videos and everyday objects to contemplate on the term “here” based on their narrative potential. Scattered through the room, they form subtle relations, seemingly connected through invisible threads into an installation that engages the private and public spheres of “here”. An email exchange around this “place” was kept between the art historian Roland Früh and the curator Daniel Morgenthaler during the preparation of the show and will be published this fall by Jungle books.
